Hello everybody, I recently started trying to OC my MSI 1070 Gaming X and on Heaven Benchmark I literally can't even overclock the core to 100, this isn't a lot is it? I see people with like 150-180 yet mine crashes at 100, anybody know why this could be? My power limite/core voltage etc is all the way up too.
Thanks in advance

Edit: Crashes on 90, too

every card is different.
full system spec? include make and model of the psu
gpu temp during the test?
Hello, I have a z390 motherboard, 16gb ddr4 ram (vengeance I think?) i7 8700k with liquid cooler, 750 watt psu (not sure of the make) gpu temps were sitting low 60c

edit: sorry it's a asus rog motherboard lga 1151

Not every chip is created equal. You could try to give the chip a little more voltage and test again. But be careful and proceed in small steps. Monitor your powerdraw under load and see if you run into the powerlimit.
From my personal experience with that card its more beneficial to run heaven and determine the max boost and then try to get it undervolted to reduce thermals, noise and powerdraw. I even could hit a little higher sustained boost clocks that way.

My STRIX 2080 Ti max out at +100 Core +900 MEM Micron stable, can go higher for benchmarks but long session games are unstable. Some people are getting +165 and +1400 with Samsung GDDR6 so its definitively silicon lottery. You can always OC the VRAM if your core doesn't OC well, you might have Samsung VRAM while your core doesn't OC well.

Also you might be hitting power limit; you can log it with GPUZ during load.
If your card is out of warranty, you can flash a higher power limit BIOS from https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/ but be sure its compatible with your GPU, otherwise you might not get display or might brick the card. If anything happens and you have a bios switch, you can switch to the other bios so only flash one bios, never both.

I am waiting on my warranty to end to flash the ASUS MATRIX bios in my STRIX but I doubt that it will make a huge difference. The STRIX cards have a ridiculously low power limit versus competition, 260W, GALAX bios can hit 400W but that will need watercooling to be cooled.
Always watch GPU temps when flashing a higher power limit bios.

What does it overclock to stock the card might be fairly high overclocked right out of the box. The other aspect is even with a 200-300mhz overclock you might only see 3-5fps more so if you truly want more FPS it’s upgrade time.
