Can't Overclock :-(

hi,
I am new here. I need some help on overclocking.
specs-
Intel Pentium E2140 (@1.60 gHz)
2gb DDR2 ram
Sapphire Nvidia Geforce 210
Mainboard model - lakeport
chipset - intel i945G

the problem is, whenever i get over 1.75 gHz, my computer becomes unstable and @ 1.80 gHz it doesn't boot.
I've tried increasing cpu voltage ( in my bios it is listed as cpu vcore 7-Shift) by 1 level but it doen't have much effect. Please help me! i need to overclock it to around 2ghz . many say its an "overclockable" processor. please help!
PS- i have currently overclocked my gpu (sapphire nvidia geforce 210). it is very stable. i wanna know if an overclocked gpu have an effect on overclocking cpu?

you have to bump up the cpu block from 200mhz up. the total speed is the cpu block (also known as the CPU FSB) times the cpu clock ratio (also known as the CPU multiplier)

so if you set the block to 250mhz. you will get 2ghz total speed. does the bios let you change the cpu clock ratio?

Also the voltage range for that cpu according to intel is between .85V and 1.5V. depending on your motherboard you might need to bump up the volts to achieve higher overclocks.

and also, do the increases to the block in small increments, not only for safety but also so you can find the limit of the overclock

I get what u say.. i have an option for controlling bus speed (x8) i did 225 mHz and an increament of +.25 mV...my computer froze after a few minutes :-(

I think you need some more RAM.... 2 GB is really small for overclocking the
Intel Pentium E2140 (@1.60 gHz) which is somewhat old... Newer processors are not affected by system RAM when over clocking..

isn't there any way ? and btw im at stock cooling with 74C under full load. (@1.6 Ghz )

What is the CPU temperature when you try to overclock ?

When i overclock it at 1.76 Ghz, with 0.5mV of voltage increment , this happens (see pics ; taken from occt)

I can't go any further. This setup is stable and i've been running my pc since 5hrs without any lockups.
when i tried to push it to 225 Mhz (x8) with +0.1 V increment, my pc booted but froze after 10 minutes :-(

Just accept the fact.... u need an upgrade now..

Hehe.. I know I really do need an upgrade, but money doesn't grow on trees :-(
