Can't play Fallout 3

Whenever I start Fallout 3 and try to start a new game it crashes. I downloaded it off steam and haven't had to put on the CD key yet. I've heard that on-board graphics can cause problems but I'm using a graphics card. Any ideas?

Try run it in Compatibility mode.
