Help

I have purchased the retail DVD version of Homefront and as part of the install process have gone through steam - after a very long install process via Steam I have tried to play Homefront for the first time clicking on the newly created desktop icon – but every time I do this It try’s to connect to steam.

A message appears that it preparing to launch but then it comes up with some message that either it cant process this request at this time or the servers are busy?

It looked like everything went ok with the initial install, and I have even re-verified that all files are ok

How do I play offline the single player??

Thanks

After installing my retail version (which was about 5.4 GB), Steam started updating the game (to about 9.6 odd GB). Once done, I was able to play (and finish) the game.

Try re-installing the game. Does the update happen (via Steam) after the install process is over?

Hi

Yes i tryed re-installing the game, again looked like eveything went ok, steam went through process of updating game files during the install. ( i even verfied files again) and it said all was ok.

But again once finished, as soon as i try to launch game from destop icon or disc it wants to connect back to steam to launch game???

I can only guess that some key file is missing from install?

Are you connected to steam and the internet? I believe you have to check in with steam before the game activates. I believe you said Steam downloaded updates, so it should have done the activation too. Also check your firewall settings and make sure nothing steam related is blocked. I sounds like this is your first steam game (Since you installed it) so I'd bet that its firewall or other network issues.

Secondly, try to open steam directly and log in. You should have a games tab with homefront on the list. Start the game from there and it should work fine. I've noticed its faster to start Dawn of War2 directly from Steam then it is from an icon, even if steam is running. Not sure why...
