Question Cant raise power limit over 100% MSI Afterburner

Im trying to OC my factory OC'd GIGABYTE 2060 super (1815mhz factory OC) by another 100mhz and 500mhz on the memory.

In GPU-Z I keep getting perf cap PWR but the TDP never goes above 93% ????? So how is it possible that Im not hitting 100% TDP but getting Perfcap PWR?

I tried to raise my power limit over 100 but I cant do it. Is there anyway to unlock the power limit on the 2060 super? Its the 8pin only model so I dont know if this affects how much I can push to the card.

This model 2060 super has a 175w TDP but in GPU-Z it says Im drawing 200w. Im so confused on how the TDP is only at 93% but the actual draw from the card is above the cards TDP..

Any help on this?

Even when I use MSI After Burners auto overclock feature, the scan ends with 105mhz average OC with this message "Limit/Power". However when I OC the card even with the auto oc, games crash because of the OC but benchmarks like furmark and heaven DO NOT crash.

1 x 8 pin means 150 watts and you can get a maximum of 75 watts from the PCIe slot. This means you have a maximum possible wattage of 225 watts. Most cards won't pull 75 watts from the PCIe slot so you maybe have less total. So 200 watts maximum draw is very close to maximum. There is little left for your RAM etc. You are drawing the maximum power you can for that card.

but knowing that info, I shud still be able to hit 98% tdp?

And if my card is drawing 200w in gpu-z but the percentage is only 93% should that be 100% since the tdp of the card is a175?????????????????

Weird...

also is 75w from pcie but 150 w from 8 pin w a max of 225..... so whats the issue?

RTX 2060 super cards are PCIe 3 cards. Also there is losses to on components like the cards vrm etc. The RAM also takes some of the power. I have a rtx 2080 that has a 308 watt maximum power. It never hits that maximum in gpu-z.

Your cards normal tdp is 160 W, so 200 watts is very good. https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/gigabyte-rtx-2060-super-windforce-oc.b7026

my exact model aint on that list, I have a factory overclocked version at 1815mhz and 3 fans. tdp is 175w

The GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER GAMING OC has a 6-pin and 8-pin connector. That's 75watts, 150watts and 75watts. https://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/GV-N206SGAMING-OC-8GC/sp#sp That card may have been a better target for overclocking. With one 8-pin connector you will be lucky to see above 200 watts.

All the cards are limited in BIOS, even if you could flash the above BIOS on your card. There would likely be hardware problems because the PCB components are likely designed for 200 watts total power draw. Even that the physical maximum limit is 300 watts, the bios maximum is 280 watts. This means less watts taken from the PCIe slot.

With a full OC on my RTX 2080 I never seem to hit the 308 watts limit I have. https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/205097/zotac-rtx2080-8192-181009
