can't record

I'm trying to record the transporter 2 that I downloaded from Ares on a blank DVD R recordable disk. But it doesn't seem to work this message appears:

"The disk in the drive is not writable or it is full"

It's a recordable dvd so why does it say it's not writable?

And it's not full it's empty, never been used, no scratches on the disk.

No guarantee, but here's some suggestions:
1) Try cleaning the disc;
2) Do you only have the one? Try another disc;
3) Most drives support dual formats: DVD-R and DVD+R. Is your optical drive dual format capable? If not, which format does it support and which kind of disc do you have?
4) This is a stupid question but I'll ask it anyway. You DO have a DVD recorder, right? I once put a recordable DVD disc in a CD recorder and I got that same message;
5) How big is the file you're trying to save? Would it fit on a recordable CD? If so, try recording it to CD instead of DVD.

1. The disk is already clean
2. I won't try another disk because there's know scratch on it. The one I have should work.
3. the drive is dual format capable
4. yes it's a dvd recorder
5.The movie is 1hour and 26 minutes. I can record 120 min on the dvd.
