Hey guys,

i have a r9 280 from XFX and its running inside a Bitfenix shinobi windowed case. I wanna just remove my card to check for any flaws and out of curiosity. I removed the PCI slot screws and unlatched the pci slot latch. but i think its stuck (probably on the pci bracket)
can i just yank the card or will it be damaged?
Are there any screws i forgot to remove? I dont know how to remove my card

Solution
Not familiar with this card but it may be a double height card, which means it would have 2 screws needing to be un done. Also double check the latch on the motherboard has been pulled back up.. give it a good even yank out.

Not sure about your motherboard... but the ones I've seen had two different types of release levers on the card. The first type I encountered had an arm that you had to pull back and hold while lifting the card to release it. The second type of lever I had was easier... you just push it in... and hold it in while lifting up the card. I'm sure your is probably one of those. Just press and hold the button and lift up the card. It could be that the VGA/DVI ports are getting caught in the opening. at the rear. Make sure you DID unplug your monitor cable before trying to remove the card.

+1 on both previous answers. If the card is not malfunctioning in any way, removing it 'just because' and yanking on it, sound like bad ideas.

If the card is in any way stuck, you need to determine why before you break something. You can damage the PCI-e slot it's installed in, various parts of the card, deform the chassis if you apply enough force to a stuck add-in board, or all of the above.

Ok guys thanks for the help. I unscrewed the adjacent pci brackets and it came right out 😀 i checked the card and seems it has a little scratch 🙁 I wanna sell this card, so how much can i sell it for guys?

You probably had the adjacent slot's clamp over the card. New R9-280's are going for a little less than $200.

If you check the prices for used cards... the 280X is selling for about $140 on Craiglist... and the 280 I saw for around $130... so that sort of gives you an idea of what to expect.
