FINAL UPDATE 2/8/18: Finally found the problem. Had to disable controlled folder access under Windows Defender - Virus and threat protection settings.

UPDATE 2/8/18: It's been awhile since I've messed around with this issue, but recently out of frustration with it, I decided to do a little bit of testing with the problem. It turns out I can save files from Audacity on to the SSD, although only in specific folders. For example, I can save a file in C:\Users\David, but not in C:\Users\David\Documents or C:\Users\David\Desktop (this includes their sub-folders too). Most of the settings on these folders look identical to that of the previous folders, so I still don't know what's causing it.

UPDATE 12/13/17: The issue is still present. I used video editing software and attempted to save a project and the same error occurred. One thing I know is that the issue can't be more than 2 weeks old, since I worked on a video 2 weeks ago and had no trouble saving the project file. It appears to occur whenever saving a file with that exact explorer too.

Dear people of Tom's Hardware,

I have noticed an issue regarding my SSD or possibly my OS that has appeared lately. When I attempt to save files a certain way to any location on my SSD, whether it be on my desktop, in folders, sub-folders, and so on, it will not allow me to do it. I must emphasize that this error is only with certain programs when attempting to save/export files. For example, I can still save a jpg or notepad file with no trouble. The error I get is as follows: File not found. Check the file name and try again. I have also tried to save text files using Notepad++. I can save with Notepad, but if I save with Notepad++, the text doesn't save. If I try to do a "save as" and then save it, I get a similar error. Another thing is I can save it to my HDD which I use for storage and move it to my SSD without any problems.

What I have tried:

chkdsk /f for all of my drives.

Crystal Disk Info states all of my drives are healthy.

Allow full control for all users.

Here is a picture with the error: https://i.imgur.com/mAZlT0g.png

If anyone has any advice or tips, I'd appreciate it. This issue seems pretty vague, since I've searched all over the internet and couldn't find any information on it.

In saving files, there is zero difference between the SSD and HDD.
You and the OS should not see any difference except speed.

There is no file type or application restriction between the drive types.

What was the last thing you did before this started?

I don't remember exactly what I did, it kinda just appeared out of nowhere. I wanna say a few weeks to a month ago it started. A while back I did some RAM overclocking, but I eventually got rid of the overclocks because they were causing instability. My CPU is also overclocked, but it has been stable for months now so I'm not worried about it. Other than that, nothing comes to mind.

Are you trying to transfer numerous files or just some small files?

If you are trying to transfer multiple/large files, have you tried the 'clone' application? It allows users with multiple storage devices to transfer information between them. If your sending lots of different files over at once it can be handy.:

I've never tried to clone anything, so I don't really know what that's all about. I am only saving small files (like a text file or a 3 MB audio file). Weirdly, I can save them to my HDD fine and then move them to the SSD without any issues, but if I try to save them somewhere on the SSD it's a no go. I can still make folders and save notepad documents on the SSD, but if I try notepad ++ then I can't save it, or if I try to export Audacity audio I can't (error above).

Me neither. It seems to only affect programs outside of Windows, like Audacity for example. If it's anything saved through Windows programs then there are no issues. I can even export the files on my HDD and move them to my SSD and they'll work fine. If I try to change them and save them on the SSD, that's a no go (error above). I don't think it's Audacity because I've tried a few other programs that export files and it just says there's a write error (or file not found like with Audacity).

Do you have more than one explorer open at times? At, times, more than one explorer "looking" at the same directories? Are there more than one copy / move / delete / save operations going on at the same time among the programs and/or explorer?
I ask because a very similar thing happens to me from time to time; in my case, which may not apply to your situation, I have to stop all copy / move / save / delete operations, close programs, close explorers, and do either a Restart or a Logout/Login.

I tested your theory. The issue is still present even with all of my explorers closed 🙁
