Can't screw back my CPU, screws too thin

Just wanted to dust off my cooler so I undid the lever an unscrewed the 4 screws, cleaned it and when I tried to screw in the 2 brackets that hold th CPU in place the screws were too thin for the holes in my mobo. I find this wierd because it was all screwd in place before.
