For some reason there is no way to screw the m.2 drive on to the bottom left heatsink which is two combined.

All it says in the manual is to screw it callback in and it also says that if there is no ez clip installed it should be installed.

But there is no way to put the ez clip with the stand off as well as the heatsink because the heatsink screw is not removable for the left side and trying to screw the ez clip with the standoff and then the heatsink doesn't tighten it at all.

It's the bottom left portion that has one big heatsink with two ssds. I managed to insert the SSD to the bottom right but the left one seems impossible to put the m.2 with the motherboard heatsink.

Motherboard is MAG Tomahawk B660 WI D4.

Edit: I m not too worried about it because the next drive I get is probably going to have its own heatsink in which case the motherboard heatsink cannot be used. Still...this is silly that MSI hasn't said anything about how to screw it right regarding the one that is under 02.

Make and model of your M.2 drive? You might want to include images of the protrusion off of the motherboard to help identify what is impeding it's installation. Host images on a site like Imgur, then pass on the URL for the images here.

Putting the SSD with ez clip on left is easy without heatsink...it's with the heatsink that it's impossible to put it on with.

I guess unless someone has that very same board I'm not going to get much response.

I understand. Anyways the Samsung 990 Pro that I'm planning to buy will be the one with its own heatsink so this motherboard heatsink becomes useless.

I have this problem which I have already created a topic on.

In simple words the motherboard heatsink doesn't have a screwslot that allows me to screw in the heatsink with the m.2 drive ez screw on the bottom left with number 02.

It's easy to do this on 01 and 03 because there are holes that allow me to screw them with the screw securely. It's only a problem at slot 02 for the heatsink.

Since the screw won't screw in with the screw that has ez slot, is it a good idea to use a standoff to screw it so that I can screw the heatsink securely in it? Meaning that slot is held by two standoffs instead of only one?

You reverse the process of unscrewing the shields shown in the video, you don't even need to use additional screws to tether the SSD's down into their respective slots.

That's what I tried at the left side of that big heatsink. If I put the screw with the ez clip left slot and try to screw back the heatsink it won't be secured in place because that heatsinks screw is locked and you can't take it out...

I hope I'm making sense in this...

@Lutfij ok I think I got what you meant but I want to confirm it with you.

Are you saying that I should just screw the heatsink back in without adding a screw with an ez clip on the second m.2 slot that is 02?

If that's the case then I can confirm that is working. The drive is connected with the motherboard heatsink. Only thing is if I unscrew the heatsink the drive springs back up instead of being there tight unlike for the other two slots.

Can you please confirm if that is what you meant?
