I recently ran a reset of Windows 10 to fix an issue where I couldn't connect to my NAS. A lot of my programs were uninstalled during the reset and now I have to put them back.

Issue #1 - I am running Windows 10 64 bit but it seems like my default install locations is the Program Files folder, not Program Files (x86). How do I fix that?

Issue #2 - When I install programs, it seems like they install but I can't find them by searching in the search bar. I can find the executable installation program in my Downloads folder but not the installed program. How do I fix this?

Thanks.

Hi Marauder144.

Issue 1 - The regular Program Files folder holds 64-bit applications, while "Program Files (x86)" is used for 32-bit applications. Installing a 32-bit application in a PC with a 64-bit Windows automatically gets directed to Program Files (x86).

Issue 2 -When you type the software name it doesn't appear in the search bar?

Issue 1 - okay, maybe I just never previously noticed it was being installed into whichever folder.

Issue 2 - Yes. I search for 7-Zip but it doesn't show up in my search bar. I have Windows Explorer open behind it with the application showing - the application does open from inside Windows Explorer. I'm not sure how to add a picture - do I need to use Imgur? What is the preferred method?
