Hello all, I have a Gigabyte b150M-DS3M DDR4 board and have struggled to get dual channel memory working.

I have 2 sticks of ram. 8g each. Both function perfectly fine by themselves but when used together according to the manual for Dual Channel the system wont boot. I can however run them at the same time and get both 16g in the same channel and the system will boot. Any ideas?

Currently have each stick installed as follows:
**Side closest to processor** X X - -
according to the manual that is dual channel mode for ddr4 boards

Appreciate all your help!

Solution
You installed your RAM in this configuration?

CPU, Stick 1, Stick 2, Empty, Empty

The motherboard manual asks for dual channel kits to be installed in this way:

CPU, Empty, Stick 2, Empty, Stick 1

or

CPU , Stick 2, Empty, Stick 1, Empty

Reinstall the RAM and try again both of these configs. If it fails to boot either it's a bad slot or you didn't buy the RAM in a kit.
Memory manufacturers guarantee memory in the form it is sold. Combining single modules in multiples carry no guarantee to be compatible together.

Memory slots that don't work can be caused by bending pins out of place in the CPU socket during CPU installation.
