I've got an Acer s3 running Windows 10. Drivers are all up to date and I just did a fresh install of Realtek HD Audio.

Problem is, the headset mic doesn't register and I don't get the litte popup when I plug it in allowing me to select 'headset' instead of 'headphones'.

It was the same on another Windows 10 computer but that was easy to sort. There's nothing wrong with the headset and the s3 socket isn't just for headphones.

Lots of tips online about what to do but I've tried them all and nothing works.

Help?

Got it fixed: the problem was with Realtek 2.82. I just uninstalled that and downloaded 2.81 and that did the job.

Anyone who's reading this and trying all the other options that are out there, if it's just a matter of not being able to open Realtek and have it do the popup when you plug your headset in, the best thing I came up with was to navigate to the Realtek folder (probably Program Files/Realtek/Audio/HDA) and open ravcpl.exe.
