Hi all,

After replacing my CMOS battery, some issues have come up. I can't seem to set the date and time on my HP dc5800. When I enter my BIOS, and go to set it, it acts very strangely. When I go to set the month and I hit 2 on my keyboard, it sets it to number 3, and when I go to hit 1, it sets it to 2, and so on. I also can't set my day, year, hour, or minute either. My computer is also not loading into my Server 2008.

It also has a BIOS password which I can't seem to reset.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Did you go into the BIOS and Load Defaults after replacing the battery?

The password sounds strange, shouldn't be there after replacing batt. Sounds like maybe BIOS got corrupted... You could try re-flashing the BIOS.

Did you leave the battery out for 10min or so when you replaced it? Could be it didn't erase completely. Try that first, then Load Defaults.

Thanks for the reply, but I forgot to put in my first post; this all came about after I replaced my CMOS battery.
