Question Can't set monitor to 1080p

Hello, my problem is that I can't set my display resolution to 1080p in Win10. My GPU is AMD HD 7770 and monitor is LG flatron e2242, I'm using VGA cable and a passive vga/dvi adapter. My drivers are up to date and I tried reconnecting everything but that didn't help.
The highest I can go is 1600x1200 / 1600x900 but it doesn't align the image correctly on my screen. Can you help me with this ?

That monitor has DVI inputs. Get rid of the old VGA cable and use a DVI cable instead, if the gfx card has DVI output. I suspect that the adapter is the problem.
Btw, why are you using an adapter if the monitor has VGA input?

This monitor model only has VGA input and my GPU doesn't have VGA output so I have to use the adapter. The thing is that I've been using this combination for months and everything was fine until yesterday.

Isn't this your monitor? If so, the specs say it has DVI input.

That should be my model but I can only see VGA input on the back side.

So it seems my model is E2242C.

OK. What is the model/make adapter you are using? It might be failing if this drop in resolution just occurred.
Btw, is 1920x1080 offered in the Win resolutions at all?

Under display settings max offered resolution is 1600x1200. I'm currently on 1440x900 because if I go any higher the screen doesn't align properly.
