Hello,
My computers graphics card over heated when the onboard fan stopped working. when i got up, the computer was shut off so that means it shut itself down. I removed the card and hooked up to the on board video and now my computer wont start up. it is saying my hard disk is bad. Computer is only a year old. I have tried restore disks and boot disks. nothing works and I am baffled. Any help would be great thanks

If it boots from the repair discs, but will not boot from the hard disc, then it is entirely likely that your hard disc is fried. Send it in for warranty repairs if it still has a warranty, or just buy a new hard drive and install it yourself.

welcome to the forums newcomer

if you were asleep whent he pc shut down, how do you know for sure, that the GPOU died cos of a faulty fan?

might've been a bad HDD to begin with and through time the issues grew.

* +1 to warranty claim.

electronics are a funny lil bunch, they work out of the box or may end up DOA on your doorstep :)
