can't stay connected to spades

Got a new puter and can't stay connected to spades. It lets me download, go
to a game but after a hand it boots me off the table. My old computer lets me
stay on but the new with xp sp2 won't. Any suggestions

Something at this site might help though that is a strange one. Look
for the section on lag and latency.
