Question Can't switch between audio outputs

Unable to change between my headphones and speakers unless i unplug either of them . I Know they both should work together because when i unplug and plug in my headphones sound plays through both devices, any help appricated

So you want them to play together or do you want to be able to select one or the other (headphones or speakers) without unplugging?

More information needed: System specs and OS?

Make and model headphones and speakers?

What audio ports are you using? Audio card? What connections and cables are being used?

If you right click the small speaker icon (usually found in the lower right screen corner) try the troubleshooting option and then, if necessary, go into the other menu choices to check the current configuration settings.

Verify that the settings are as you expect. Remember that if you make changes then change only one thing at a time. Keep notes so you can reverse a change that does not work or makes things worse.
