Question Cant switch to pci gen 4

I bought a 3090 and I cant switch to gen 4 without getting driver issues. What could I do to fix this? Im not using a riser either. Just standard connection.

Do you really need to? From what I remember the 2080TI never even came close to using all the bandwith in a gen 3 16x slot and I run my 2070 in a gen 2 slot when I have 2 gen three slots? Wait i'll fix that later but it works fine to me. Maybe roll back the drivers, Asus may not fully support it yet. You have tried it in the other 3rd gen slot right?

Unless ur using Gen 4 NVME drives or something that requires the bandwidth of gen4, you don't really need gen 4.

Ok, can you describe what kind of driver issues you have? Is it GPU, USB, or something else?

The graphics driver doesn't load in and it keeps trying to re-install it over and over until I switch it back to gen 3 in bios.

Try using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) to completely wipe your old drivers (or any attempts to install), and download the latest nvidia drivers.

The program recommends running in safe mode but I have never had an issue running it in standard startup. YMMV...

I have that program and tried that a few weeks ago and it didn't do anything. It still does it.

Have you updated the BIOS and chipset drivers for you board?

Which windows version you are using. May be windows update require.
And there are others users also facing same issue may be amd nvidia compatibility so until it sorted out run on pcie3 which is enough for all present games.

Yes I have the latest bios and chipset drivers.
