Cant talk, can only hear on new comp

so my computer case, has two jacks, one for head phones and the other for a mic,
for some reason i cant find how to enable the talking,i have beats wich also has a mic, but doesnt have two jacks :/
im new to the whole microsoft expereince,
on macs, there was two jacks, but you could talk and listen using one,
But here it looks like you need two plugged in?
anyways i tried putting my beats in the headset jack and my iphone speakers, in the mic jack, but my friends on skype still cant hear me
the control panel sounds, reads my "mic" and says it works, but when i try talking the sound meter does not rise up, its not on mute, and i toyed with every setting Unless theres something i missed out on

So am i forced to buy a a 2 jack connecter?
Or am i looking at the wrong place?
maybe its the mobo?

Two different channels. One for voice, one for audio. You can't run voice over the audio jack.

You need an adapter.

and this is why apple is superior when it comes to design and toughts.. :/
