Can't tell if gpu is failing?

Hey guys,

Have been having problems while using my comp for about 2 weeks. After using it for about a hour the screen freezes up for about 5 sec and starts working again for a little bit then does the same thing, until I restart it. Even the mouse gets distorted sometimes when it does this. I just switched over from hdd to ssd and thought it could be a corrupted OS, so I did a clean install but nothing changed. All my drives are up to date and temps seem normal to me. Gpu running around 30 on low load and cpu on 40.

Did this problem happen after changing over to SSD or did it happen with HDD too?

You might wanna change the SATA cables and port for SSD just as a precaution. Maybe a bad cable or port causing random freezes.

I really don't think it's GPU problem, because it's happening without even playing games.

I'm not really too sure. I'll try that out and see if it changes anything, thanks

Perhaps a BIOS update for the motherboard?

Check to see if you have the latest version and update it to latest version.

Some SSD's tend to freeze if the BIOS of motherboard is not the latest version.

Yeah I haven't ever updated the bios just cause I was reading it can cause more problems than solutions

If you do it the right way , no harm can happen.

If you do it the wrong way, you could brick your motherboard.

So, watch a couple of videos on youtube and read on the forums how to update bios safely.

Then only go for it.

A case in point i hav ------> My corsair Force GT SSD had the exact same problems when I was running Asus Maximus V Formula like 2 years ago. I updated the Bios, and I no longer had freezes. So if that helps, you might wanna go for it.

Sorry havnt got to it yet

but just now screen started flashing black, restarted comp, and now theres flickering lines on the screen. No clue what this is from now..
