Cant unpark cores

Hello,

My friend is having alot of trouble lately with his PC and he has fixed a few things but there is still one problem that persists, which is unparking his CPU Cores, Hes tried going to reg edit, unparking them that way and device manager to un-install them.

But nothing seems to be working, he has an i5 3330.

It says there 4 cores in device manager, but in task manager there is only one, same with ms config.

Hmmm weird this if the first time i've heard of windows "Parking" a CPU. Did a quick search on it though and could only find regedits. There was someone who made a app to do the regedits for you though, but maybe going into the Power Options and seeing it to the Performace setting so that it doesn't turn anything off and keeps everything maxed out. Maybe that will help? Or turning things like Intel Speed Step off in the BIOS? Not sure. Just tossing some ideas out there.

Yea, It's already on performance and thanks man ill give that BIOS idea a try.

The Windows 8 task manager shows CPU usage as a single graph by default. Right-click the graph and pick "Change Graph to..." and "Logical Processors" to see a separate graph for each processor.

Install CPU-Z and check the cores there? I don't use Windows 8 but wouldn't be suprised if they made it one overall graph and not of each core

Please check this: In the run box type "msconfig" (no quotes) to open and run the utility. Select the tab marked boot. Select the advanced options box.
On the advanced options page there is an option called "number of processors". If the box has a check in it remove it. In fact everything on that page should appear "greyed out" DO NOT MAKE ANY OTHER CHANGES TO ANYTHING IN THE MSCONFIG UTILITY.

I totally forgot that part even existed in msconfig!
