Question cant update bios without it backing up to previous version

so my pc has been overheating like crazy right now with my cpu getting to like 92 degrees celcius. to fix this one of the solutions was to update my motherboard bios. so i put the update on a usb did the asus EZ usb thing and it updates itself and works and prompts me to just restart the computer. however when i do restart the computer it starts going, stops and then starts again and stop and does that a few times till it finnally works but the update is gone. im guessing what this is is that my gpu requires secure boot to be turned off and when i update the bios it resets the settings (turning safe boot back on) and once it realises that its not working with secure boot on it goes back to the previous save point and doesn't keep the update. but thats just a guess. what should i do?
