About a month ago, i bought myself a GTX650 Ti and it has been working very well! Yesterday, i bought myself the new TW game but on the play button it was asking me to update my graphics drivers - so, i did! However, as i was yet to update my drivers with the new card it was a rather large 'leap' - from 335 to 347. However, on attempted installation of these drivers my screen resolution dropped to 800x600? I went onto GeForce Exp and it was now reporting an error, saying it couldn't find my GPU? So, i use system recovery and jump back to the 335 drivers.
Today, i decided to give it another go. I decided to download the drivers from the Nvidia website this time just in case. The identical problem occurred so, yet again, i was force to use system recovery.
It struck me that it might just be this driver version not working very well with my system. I decided to download an older driver version (343). However, on installation this caused my system to bluescreen. On restarting my computer again it blue screened for the second time. System recovery for the 3rd time...
Honestly, every other game works perfectly on the 335 drivers apart from the new TW game (If run on older drivers, it will too bluescreen your computer).
Any idea what is preventing my drivers from updating?

Many thanks
Harrison

It is always recommended to remove the old driver first before installing the new one. This can be done usually through the Nvidia installation program by doing a "Clean Install" This removes the old driver and software. IF you have issues with this part of the program there are 3rd party programs that will do the same job like Driver Fusion.

give this a shot and let us know if the issue remains.

EDIT: after teh old driver is uninstalled the screen resolution should swap to the 800x600 till the new one is reinstalled.

boot into BIOS and update it or reset it to defaults. This will rebuild the database of hardware and hardware settings that the BIOS sends to windows. The BIOS tends to be smart and assumes it can make hardware setting changes, windows does the same base on that database the the BIOS sends to it. If windows gets a bogus database, it thinks the old values are a device that failed but it sees the same device as a new device and sets it up. End effect is window may think it has two devices (one working, the other not).

if the download is failing, you would want to update your ethernet driver. Some bad versions of ethernet drivers will corrupt files as they are being downloaded. The transport detects the corruption and makes the server resend the packet, but the driver corrupts the packet again and the cycle continues until the program gives up.

A direct download will not check for corruption so it appears to work and you might even get a good install but with some weird problems that no one else has.

So, look for a updated wireless or wired ethernet driver

I personally do not like Gefore Experiance and AMD's Evolved version of it. Neither can do as good of a job installing what I want and do not want. But this is just my opinion of those programs. IF changing resetting the bios does not help then I will type out a guide for you on to how to install the drivers properly to be sure all steps that are necessary are followed.

Which OS are you using and is it 32 or 64 Bit?

you will find teh newest driver for your board on the manufactures web page under support and downloads. You will need to look up your exact board on there web site to get the correct one.

OK it is a 64 Bit os but which one? XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 ?

ya, you can copy down the file using the bad ethernet driver, then save the file, update the ethernet driver and copy down the file again. Then you can do a binary compare on the files and see if they differ. If so you know that your diver corrupted your files. (and all of your windows update files are suspect also)
start cmd.exe
then run the file compare utility
fc.exe /B file1.sys file2.sys
and it will dump the file differences to the screen

When the Graphics adapter is talked about they are referring to the GPU itself.

here is a direct link to download the driver for an Nvidia Geforce GTX 650 Ti non boost edition for Windows 7 64 bit. http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/347.52/347.52-desktop-win8-win7-winvista-64bit-international-whql.exe

This link will automatically download the driver, just run the program IF it still fails then make sure you have the non Boost version. Also try Driver Fusion to wipe out all driver and Nvidia software before install.
