HP Envy desktop 2023. Windows 11 Pro. Version 23H2. OS build 22631.4541 13th Gen Intel i7, 64 GB ram.

Very little space used on hard drives. When I try to update Windows 11 or the Bios, I get an error message that says "This PC doesn't currently meet Windows 11 system requirements. Here's why: We couldn't update the system reserved partition."

When I went into disk management, all of the partitions were 100% free. C drive is 87% free. However, when I went to Settings-Storage-Disks & Volumes, it shows some of the partitions are almost full. It won't let me change the size of them.

What to do?

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

What is the overall size of your storage device on the prebuilt?

"This PC doesn't currently meet Windows 11 system requirements. Here's why: We couldn't update the system reserved partition."
This would require you to create your bootable USB installer for Windows 11, then install the OS afresh.

it shows some of the partitions are almost full. It won't let me change the size of them.
You can't change them, not from within Windows at least nor should you. Your license key should be tethered to the BIOS chip on the desktop's motherboard, you should be able to install Windows 11 and the OS should retrieve the key from said BIOS chip.

Also, have you tried to manually perform the BIOS update instead of using the assistant(assuming you're using that to update the BIOS)?

The C drive is 2 T. Only 242 GB is used. Also have a D drive that is 2T and empty. I tried manually performing the BIOS update and got the same error message.
