cant upgrade bios

I have a ROG X79 mobo with 0604 bios and no ez flash in tools how do i upgrade?

What's the exact model of the board?

Ausus Rampage iv extreme x79 quad sli/crossfire sata . cyber power model #MB-391-104. I go into ROG bios and under TOOLS i don"t have ez flash. Under System Model is "System Product Name"
Under BIOS Version/Date is "American Megatrends Inc. 0604, 10/28/2011"

I can tell you this unless your having problems with the board do not update the BIOS.

Use flashback. Get the update rename it to R4E.rom. Put it on a FAT32 formatted flash drive

Read 3-51 in the manual

If everything is working leave it alone the only way to brick the board is a bad flash seen it way to many times.
Build a new PC everything is working and say hay not to update the BIOS and the next stop is here.
If it's not broke then don't fix it.

Okay so one quick note DO NOT UPGRADE YOUR BIOS unless you absolutely have to. Reason you would have to is if because you upgraded it and for some reason it isnt working (aka. not going through post bios). reason why not is because if it currently works you run the chance of "bricking" your motherboard. Basically for some people they experience their motherboard becoming about as useful as a brick. Now with thatsaid if you really want to update your bios follow these steps:
1. Get a empty flash drive
2. Make sure you ahve the correct bios file from asus support
2a. Go to https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/RAMPAGE_IV_EXTREME/HelpDesk_Download/
2b. Make sure you are on the Drivers & Tools tab
2c. Select your current OS
2d. Under Bios click the Global link under Version 4901
3. The file downloaded will be a .zip file extract the file inside to the flash drive
4. Now that your flash drive has the correct file shutdown and plug it into a usb2.0 (its black not white or blue) slot in the back of your computer
5. Look for the TOOLS menu
6. Under TOOLS you will see EZ Flash 2
7. You should see the file from the flash drive
7b. if you can use a mouse in your bios make sure to use it and double click to activate the file

This should work if not please let us know

p.s no upgrading your bios does not speed up your computer

The BIOS update will be their till they take the board off the web site it's not going anywhere.

not a problem man just remember when it comes to motherboards "if it aint broke dont fix it"
