So I bought a 3TB hard drive for my new PC and I have it allocated but there is only 2TB of it that is allocated, when I go to disk management it still says that about 800GBS are unallocated. It wont let me allocate it either so I can only use 2TB of my hard drive, any suggestions on how to get all 3TB working?

Hi again, MattGro!

The System Reserved partition is essential for Windows start up, so you won't be able to boot if you remove it. 🙁 Unfortunately, you might want to consider re-installing Windows on your booting drive with all other HDDs unplugged until the installation is completed, otherwise you might encounter OS confusion. Here's a thread from MS you might want to check out: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-performance/i-have-a-3-tb-drive-windows-7-ultimate-wont-format/b1cc3811-f25f-e011-8dfc-68b599b31bf5

Best of luck! Hope this helps.

Welcome to the community, MattGro!

In order to be able to use the full capacity of the 3 TB HDD, you'd need to format the drive in GPT, instead of MBR because of the MBR limitation of 2.2 TB.
However, if you've saved any data on the drive, I'd recommend you to back it up. Afterwards you should delete the volume from Disk Management and Convert to GPT Disk. Here's a thread from Tom's Hardware that might help you with the execution of this procedure: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-1777859/3tb-hard-drive-recognized-2tb-hard-drive-find-missing.html

Hope I helped. Good luck! :)
