Hello yet again...

We have Windows 7 and never had a password to get into Explorer or however you just 'use the computer'. It would boot up and go directly to the desktop.

Now, seemingly out of nowhere, it has an icon and wants a password. Nobody ever entered a password. You can't click the icon (like I can at work) to change users or anything like that. It just says 'user' instead of administrator. You can't do ANYTHING. When you try the 'change the password' option, it says enter media device.

I don't get it. I tried restarting in Safe Mode, but it still asks for a password.

We have 4 computers that are this setup (HP 6200's, i5-2500) with Windows 7. Sometimes when they time out, mine will have an administrator icon you click with no password, other times it goes directly to desktop. None have ever had a password entered.

When I try using Safe Mode, the stupid thing still asks for an imaginary password. This is MY computer and I've never set a password. The password isn't the issue as much as the software erroneously demanding one despite never having had one entered.

Problem is, we can't verify any of this. Whether or not a password was intended to be set, it's there now, and the methods for bypassing that problem would be similar to the ones illegitimately circumventing a password. Which is why we don't help with any issue if a password is involved.

Maybe I should rephrase it then :( Why isn't there an option for the -administrator- to login? It just says 'user' and can't be clicked. Only thing to click is change password, which gives the stupid media response. I'm reinstalling Windows 7 and hoping that works. Stupid microsoft
