Captureing From Cam

Is it possable to capture from cam straight to Divx or Xivd ?
if you can what program is the best of quality ?

Unless you have smoking fast PC with fast hard drives, direct live
video to DivX or XVid capture is not recommended due to heavy CPU use.
Dropped frames will occur often and can make the resulting video look
bad. I generally use Huffyuv or MJPEG first as it's lossless
compression that requires minimal CPU power to encode. Then I can
re-encode the video to DivX or XVid. Since the source video is
already on the hard drive, there's no worry about the encode speed so
no worry about dropped frames.

I have capture with Pinnacle Studio to a DV avi format
and have tryed to convert to Xvid with VirtualDub but the video dozn’t
look as good as the DV

what is the best setting to keep the same Quality
