Hi guys,
I would like to buy a graphic card for my old BX motherboard.I believe all the new cards are with the lower voltage(i dunno what that voltage is :) )...could you recommend me a card that suits well for current games that is of the old higher voltage [ i dunno what that is either :( ].
Thank you for your help

Any card apart from the radeon 9600 series will work in your mobo. So just take the one that best matches your processor speed. Anything over a ti4200 would probably be a waste though.

Like Tombance said, any card except the 9600 series.

You can actually look at pictures of cards and see, the older AGP2x cards had a keyslot closer to the bracket, the 9600 has a keyslot closer to the other end of the AGP slot. The first is for AGP 1.0 compliance, the second is for AGP 2.0 compliance.

Now you'll notice that every other card has 2 slots, that's because they're made to work with EITHER board.

I suggest a 9500 non-pro might be a good choice if you can get one cheap, a 9500 Pro if you can find one. 9700's work, but are a little pricey for such an old system. Same with 9800's.

The 9800SE is a newer version of the 9500 non-pro, if you can find one for around $130, it performs similarly to a 9600 non-pro.

err..one more...
what would you recommend for p3 500 for average gaming(bx board)?

and my new system celeron 2.4g (also mid range card)?my board is asus ps800 which specifically says i have to use low voltage card...does that mean i can't use gf3?

thanks for the reply guys

P3 500 would work for most games, but some game might claim non-compliance simply because the programers chose to do that.

All GeForce3's are dual keyed for AGP1.0 (3.3v) and AGP2.0 (1.5v) slots, and meet full electrical requirements for both your systems.

If you are overclocking stay away from ati, mine could only take a 72mhz agp bus (108mhz fsb). Unless you are running your piii at stock speed (which you really shouldnt as you are almost gauranteed 133mhz fsb) get a ti4200 or geforce 3 card.

If it isn't a P6 then it isn't a procesor

as for my P3 it's intel board ...so not oc friendly

but my asus i've oc'ed to 120mhz 2.4g@ 2.88 gig
my ram ddr3200 running at 480mhz frequency
would that be a problem for gf3?

confused!!
