Card Upgrade 2016

I have an R9 290X right now and want to upgrade, but Pascal is on the horizon. Should I get a 970 or 980 and upgrade later, or spring for the 980Ti?

"Upgrade", when the GTX 970 is weaker than a 290x, if not equal in a lot of titles?

I would wait..... And where did you get that the 290 is better haha?
Loud and hot and worse driver support.
They are about the same in most games .

You don't want a 980. You can OC the 970 to get almost the exact same performance for significantly cheaper price. 980ti will give you a 35% performance boost if you wanna jump to that. According to leaks 980ti will still beat the initial pascal cards across the board. So if your gonna wait for high end your looking at Q4 this year and even then vendors will only have limited supply, it wont' be till Q2 of 2017 when you'll see the aftermarket MSI etc. manufactures cards available
