The Carnovires series of games by WizardWorks is old and generic by today's
standards, but I miss them! (I can't get them to run on my fairly high-end
rig.) I loved Carnivores 2 (with the improved graphics) and Carnivores Ice
Age. Dinosaur hunting is loads of fun. Can you imagine what those games
would like like if they took advantage of today's graphics technology and
computing power? And with improved AI, so that the dinosaurs behaved more
realistically and interacted more with each other, the game would be
something to behold. It would be fun to also have to watch out for the
flying and swimming things, too, not just the creatures on the ground.
Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that any shop is working on such a game.
:-(

I was also a fan of the first three Carnivores games, mainly because I
too was impressed by the engine (the gameplay, not so much :). Alas,
after the dismal Carnivores Cityscape (of which the less said the
better), ActionForms seems to have abandonned the concept. But I
vaguely recall that there is a group working on making a Jurassic Park
mod for the Far Cry engine, so the dream of shooting dinosaurs in huge
and lushly-rendered jungles has not died yet. (sadly, I can't remember
the name or URL of the mod, but I'm sure somebody else here will pipe
in)

Action Forms, IIRC, had nothing to do with Carnivores Cityscape.
However, the new Action Forms title, Vivisector, might bring back a
bit of the Carnivores magic....
