i'm from indonesia and planning to go to autralia (melbourne/sydney) to continue my study, and work there. the main problem here is how i could bring my cpu there, mine was $1300 pc built , and i'm planning to take this bad boy with me to melbourne. i'm planning to ship the core component and my case (if possible), and my country uses 220v ac, is it safer to ship them or take them with me thru the airport ?

Solution
I would ship it via DHL or whatever. I would never, EVER trust airport baggage handlers to handle a packed up PC. And if you have a tower air cooler, I'd remove that from the motherboard and deal with it separately outside of the PC. Your ideal shipping box is the original box that your case came with with the Styrofoam and all the other packaging support. This is why I've always kept my PC case packaging. Makes it easier to move or travel with them with little worry.
you'd have to look into if you even can bring it with you on the plane. i know a lot of places are banning laptops both checked and carry-on. doubt a full pc would be allowed in that case.

you need to check with the airport and see if you are even allowed to. i'd still pack it and ship it personally though. can wrap it nice and tight and avoid any issues it may have in transit especially if you check it. we know they don't treat luggage very well....

While I haven't heard of the laptop banning, if anything it would be because of the batteries which a desktop PC wouldn't have.

Oh and another thought: take photos of your PC before you pack it in the box and then after the box is packed and sealed, take more photos just for record keeping in the event it winds up damaged or lost for an insurance claim. And definitely insure it.

i would like to do that too,but . if i repack all of my component and packed it safe, can my pc stuck in customs or somethings about money, cause if i repack all of them' they'll look like new stuff and customs will charge me? sounds right?

Well me being an American and not familiar with your nation's customs laws nor those of Australia, I would have no idea. I would get in contact with customs of both nations and ask for advice. Tell them exactly what you are shipping and the packaging it will be in (original retail labeled PC case box for example). And sending them photos of your PC outside of the box as well as inside the box while still open may help move things smoothly.

I have always found when dealing with government entities that the more up front and informative you are with them, the more they are willing to work with you and make things go smoother.
