Cartrige defective or missing on HP C6280

In spite of 4 different attempted cartridge replacements my printer says magenta cartridge needs replaced. I uninstalled printer, reinstalled, tried 4 different new cartridges, cleaned contacts with water, any other suggestions? I really do not want to give up on this printer! It's my favorite. Recently moved across country, maybe something got jostled loose. I am running Windows 10 if that matters.
P.S. other cartridges seem to work, but whole printer refuses to work until magenta is fixed.
