Hello, this is my first time posting on Tom's hardware.

Anyways my problem is i have the antec 900 case... it comes stock with 4 fans 1 200 top 1 rear 120 and 2 front 120s and it comes with the option for an additional 120 side fan. I have installed this side fan twice 1 cooler master and 1 yate loon if you want the actual fans i can go ahead and post them at your request. The fans will burn out within 30 minutes of running i am not sure why or if they actually are burned out however they stop running and the led's stay on the fans plug into a molex connector and the power supply i am running is corsair tx 750w. If you know why this is happening please help me

Thanks bulitz.

If the fans are hot when they shut down then they'll be receiving too much voltage.
Check they're getting 12V and not like 15V or something. Do this check soon, because if that IS what's causing it, then do it before other parts become damaged.

If you let the computer go cold, then start it again and the fans go, then it could be the power supply not offering enough power, unlikely but possible.

As above try a different connector as well.

Just some ideas to try out anywho.

As Spidersweb said, if the molex connectors are over-volting . . . that's scary. Check it out quick.

The other possibility that could kill two fans is that when you mount them, they are "binding". If something is preventing them from spinning freely, they will heat up and burn out.

The odds of this being a problem are like slim and none . . . however:

1) A voltmeter. Set it up for DC voltage (at least 20V range), select the molex used for your fan, insert ground lead in either center pin. Voltage to one outside pin should be 5V, the other 12V. The latter is what your fan would use.

2) Without a voltmeter, if you have a 12V light bulb, get two wires, insert one in either center hole of the molex, the other in one outside hole. Touch the other ends of the wires one to the metal base of the bulb and the other to the center silver point at the bottom of the base.

If the bulb is dim or doesn't light, use the other outside hole.

If the bulb is "normal" bright, your 12V is OK at this time. If the bulb is super-bright, or burns out, the 12V ilead is higher than 12V.

Binding is more likely the cause of two fans buring out.
