I am getting an Define R5. My motherboard has 3x 4pin case fan connectors. I recently installed 3 noctua nf-f12 case fans in my current case. I am planning to get 3 Cougar Vortex 140mm pwm fans into my new case. Any suggestions on how I could should configure this. I am wanting for positive airflow in my case.

Solution
Use two fans as intake in the front, one exhaust in the back and three on the top for exhaust. Use the higher CFM as intake in the front to pull as much air in as possible.

The R5 comes with 2 140mm fans with a fan header.

The R5 also includes a fan controller for up to 3 fans. The only way to connect the 3 additional fans are to use molex adapters and loose the fan speed control, or buy a fan controller and hook all 5 fans through that.

Something like this NZXT fan controller will run 5 fans from a single molex. It's a nice looking touch screen. And the lack of knobs on the touch screens means there are no knobs to get in the way of the front door on the R5.

Sorry you wanted configuration. I thought you asked how to install 5 fans since you're board only has 3 connections. Maybe that's what you meant, maybe not.

Any ways, use the fan controller like I suggested, and 2 strongest fans up front and 2 up top and 1 back like Rocky said. The 2 strong front will balance the 3 weaker in the back theoretically. The fan controller can also speed down the 3 fans to balance the 2 front for positive air flow.

No radiator needed unless you are setting up liquid cooling. Are you getting the windowed case?

2 fans up front as intake. 1 fan on bottom as intake. 1 back as exhaust and 2 up top as exhaust. That's 3 in and 3 out.

There is only room for 1 fan in the back on that case. You could leave the back out and put 3 on top. But best on the back and use the 2 back spots on top.
