Case fan question

HI, so i know this is a very stupid question, but i just want to make sure. So if i buy a 120mm fan and it has two connectors on 4pin molex and a 3 pin connectro to mobo. Could i fully run the fan without connnecting the molex and only connecting the 3 pin into the motherboard? thanks.

Get a fan that has 4 pin PWM, small pins like the 3 pin one or 3 pin. Noctua make the best ones.

(Forget clunky molex that should be burned at the stake and consigned to history).
