I'm not too bothered about noise from my pc - In fact i like fan noise it makes me sleepy.

I was just wondering what the best config for fans are?

On the bottom right of my case i have an 80mm i think screwed in sucking in air

i have an exaust fan in one of the pci holes on the back

I'm missing a 120mm fan to go in the middle where the vent on the panel is on the other side and also another 120mm fan to go on the back below the psu...

Which ones do I want sucking, and which ones do I want to be blowing??

I'm not going to be overclocking or anything so I don't need silent extra sick fans but I've had a couple of computer before that overheated and I'm worried by not filling up the available slots with fans this computer will go the same way.

Thanks!!

You basically want a good forward to back airflow with what I call, crossflow support. Have the fan(s) in the front of the case sucking air in and all fans in the back should be exhaust.

IMO, its a good idea to have a side mounted fan for added cool air over the processor unit or if the case has sub par airflow. I use a side mounted fan for my Intel machine because they run a little hotter than AMDs do generally. My AMD machine I don't use a side mounted fan as its not needed.

Luminaris is right. You want air coming in the front, and going out the back. If you have a side fan, you want it as an intake fan as well in most cases, and if you have a top mounted case fan, you want that as exhaust (as heat rises).

If you have enough air draw from the back, you may not need as many fans in the front, so keep that in mind. Extra fans does not always mean better cooling performance. And don't forget that your PSU should have some fans that help with heat exhaust.

HAHAH ohhhh good laugh in the morning

so as for the air flow, front to back is fine, but back to front provides marginally better cooling. the reason being is that its a shorter distance for cool air to be drawn in from the back to reach the hot components (cpu, gpu, mobo..etc)

the trick in case air flow is to creat a tight wind tunnel of any kind, front ->back, back->front.

the side and top ones can be used, but only if the intake is increased too
