Case has USB 3.0 connecter, motherboard has USB 2.0 header.

I know there's an adapter for USB 3.0 to 2.0 with 2.0 speeds. But is there an adapter for USB 3.0 that uses a 2.0 connecter with 3.0 speeds?

uhh...no. You can't get USB 3.0 speed out of a USB 2.0 circuit. Just as you can't get an adapter that converts VGA into HDMI.

I don't need that. My motherboard has 2 USB 3.0 ports, just no 3.0 header.

Guess I'll have to settle with the 2.0 adapter.
