Case screw lost threading how do i remove?

So i have the NZXT phantom 410 and i want to add the corsair h100i but first i need to remove two screws from the top back to remove/install things. and the problem i am having is that the right screw has lost all its threading and i am unable to remove it with a screwdriver.. does anyone know of a way to remove it without damaging the case to badly?

im pretty sure this is in the wrong thread so feel free to move it.

If the screw is spinning, try to get access from the other (inside) side and use a small drill bit by hand to spin the screw out.

If this is not possible, drill out the screw.

the screw is stuck which is how the screw lost the threading, i've tried multiple screwdrivers, and i am unable to get to the other end to see if i could remove it from the inside. it is only accessed through removing these 2 screws. it is the section for a radiator.

In that event drilling must be done using a drill bit one size larger than the screw diameter. Then use a larger screw along with a nut as a fastener.

What type of screw is it? Are they rounded or flat? Is it a bolt style perhaps? Anyway, for a "screw": I would use a small flat headed screw driver and slip it under the screw head, and while gently prying the screw use attempt to then use a phillips to remove it. If it's a bolt style screw, then grab some channel locks, clamp on it, and pull back while spinning. Either of these methods will work.

When I mentioned to use a drill bit I meant you use a drill bit by itself; just the bit, not attached to a drill. Now try from the inside using your fingers and the drill bit.

Are you saying you lost threading, or you stripped the drive? If you stripped the drive (ie, made the little "x" turn into an "o" where the screwdriver goes), then you'll have to drill it out.

guess i stripped the drive.. sorry had never heard that term before. what will drilling it out cause to the case?

A larger hole. However if you are unfamiliar with drilling sheet metal, be very careful.

Needle nose pliers might get a hold of it too.

see if your dad or school if your in high school machine shop or a locla friend machine shop/garage has a drill and tap set. should be able to tap the screw out.

A lot of case screws also have a hex bolt built into them. If you are lucky, you can use a small socket (or it's usually the size of a standard screw bit magnetic holder) to remove it.

Not an uncommon problem in just about any application that uses a screw.
