Case Side Fan, intake or out?

I currently have a noctua 140mm fan taking air onto my reference 970's but then got thinking that I may just be blowing dust onto them and affecting the flow through the case?

So the question is, air in or out from the side panel?

I have a HAF 912 if that helps.

Yeah, thanks for that.

May remove the HDD bays I have in there too to try and let the front fans get a bit more flow going.
