Hello, I've recently begun upgrading my Dell Insprion 3847. I am aware that a custom pc would have been a much better option. However at the time before the acquirement of the Dell pc, I simply had other things that needed care.
My pc specs are listed below
Intel Pentium G3240 3.1 Ghz
Intel H81 Mobo
1 TB Hard Drive
4GB DDR3 RAM
300W PSU
Zotac gt 630 Zone Edition 1 GB DDR3(Recently purchased and installed myself).
Best possible link for clarification on system - http://www.bestbuy.com/site/dell-inspiron-desktop-4gb-memory-1tb-hard-drive/5859014.p?id=1219165153058&skuId=5859014&st=g3240&cp=1&lp=2
I'm looking into some upgrades and settled on the psu to a EVGA 500W and Team Elite 4GB DDR3 1333mhz(Max for mobo I believe), two team elite branded ram to equal 8 gb.
I wanted to know before getting the final parts, can I also upgrade to a new case. The case in particular is the Rosewill Challenger from Newegg. Will I be able to move the parts from the Dell and transfer them over to the new case. Will this be possible? I've have read of older threads back in 2010 and more further of Dell being specfic according to the mobo's size being custom than standard, this to being the PSU as well. Has Dell shifted to standard atx or matx or will it not work with a new case?
If this is the case, then I'm ok with going ahead and getting a 500w psu from evga and 8gb ram without the new case. I just needed to know before I go forward next go around.
Best Regards.
