Hello, Im currently still using a NZXT H710i. I want to upgrade to a more powerful cpu and gpu and while im at ti, switch to a case with better airflow since the H710i has solid panels and mostly brute forces air through small openings with a lot of fans. It works so far, but Im not sure it will handle a 9800x3d with its higher temps and a 5080 super when its out eventually. Can i still use this case with all fans or is a newer more airflow friendly case a good idea? I like the Crosair 5000D Airflow but when I look into space for the nvidia power adapter since my psu doesnt have a native connector, theres no room for the connector it would seem
I used the CPU Cooler Height as a measure since there is no better "mobo to sidepanel distance" indicator I can think of and my current case is already as good as it gets for a midtower by that metric at a 185mm tolerance.
https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/ycwkcp/i_dont_think_people_realize_how_bad_this_12vhpwr/ someone did some measurments using my same metric in that post, and it would seem my case is among the best for this, even though in my 185mm cpu cooler tolerance case the connector is already smushed against the glass panel and my noctua is very close to the glass. Most cases I see offer 170mm. I only saw in the tock of places near me the asus gt501 at 180mm tolerance.
Am I wrong in assuming cpu cooler tolerance can be used as an indicator of how the adapter cable will fit? What cases mid tower sieze fit the connector well and are better than mine? Or do I need to bite the bullet and get a full tower or change my psu to the cybercore 2 that has a native connector?
Do I need to change case?
If so or if its recommended given my design, what is a case that can fit the connector?
Am I correct in assuming cases with 170mm CPU cooler height tolerance wont fit it well?
Thanks!
