I think i get the basic idea of "cast to device" in win10 but i never use it, but im have weird prob. heres what i did exactly
First I did a full reset of my laptop.
Then I added one pic (jpeg) to my documents
Then I right clicked on it and went to "cast to device"
It then looked for devices and finds device that is called "DIRECT -qml1 (and some numbers after it).
But notice that i havent connected to wifi at any time and airplane mode is on.
BUT.... if i disable the wifi adapter, then it cannot find any device to cast the pic to/

So my questions are 1. what is this "DIRECT-qml1... device and where is it exactly?
2. why does this device disappear if wifi adapter diabled?
3. also , since i never use this ever, how can i completely disable cast to device?

Thanks for any help!

Hi,

Cast to device is a cool function of Windows 10 which you stream videos or pictures into your Smart TV's which are also connected into the same network wherein your Windows 10 is also connected to. If i'm not mistaken "DIRECT -qml1" is your wireless network. You can check your phones or other laptops or PC connected to your network what's the network name that they are connected to. So, in short you'll need a Smart TV or TV that can connect to the internet as well. :)

Here's a video that shows you how to use it.
