There's an non-WHQL 10.3 driver coming out tomorrow
Can't wait!

Interesting. I mean really though, if you have a 4800 series card, 5700 series card, or 5800 series card, do you really need any improvement on Devil May Cry 4? :heink: Not exactly a demanding game there. My two 3850s had no trouble with that game and even one was able to be respectable at 1680x1050.

Anyway, hope they keep squeezing out more performance. :bounce:

Yes and no, there have been enough reports from those who have experienced it for AMD/ATi to have finally acknowledged it back in January but there is still no reason being given for what actually causes it and while I have my suspicions I too do not have access to a 5 series card to experiment with.

My 5750's have been spectacular with no issues like that. They also DID solve it for a number of people, though there seem to be a few still having issues, but that could be other problems than just drivers. Might be drivers too, but its hard to say.

a 2-5% increase in FPS isn't really that much of a performance increase. In real numbers, if a game runs at 50fps for example, it will climb at 51-53 fps. Not a life changer!
Anyways, I'm more than happy with my 4870 which I got 18 months ago and still rocks any game I play (no, I don't play crysis) at 1080p

bashyrkh what do you expect. Driver update after 6 months to bring another 30% improvement?

its not game changing at all but yet on review sites you see that 285 winning by 5% over 4890 is called clear winner ;)

its all about PR, yes these changes (the small ones ) wont bring anything new to your experience. Its just preparation for Fermi to look NOT TOO MUCH better.

because if fermi is like 15% better and after these drivers its only 10% better thats huge in PR

BTW I still have my HUGE cursor problem on my 5850 and with 10.2 so its NOT FIXED

about the GSOD - if its the one that when you watch some flash your pc hangs due to driver crashing - yes I have this only when I installed Flash 10.1 :)

and I BET its Flash idiots problem- thats the most idiotic software of all times - requiring like supercomputer to run a flash video - and about 5x slower than normal video player.

anyway disabling hardware acceleration for flash seems to fix it and I havent had problems since. Waiting on either ATI driver fix or Flash fix not sure who is guilty (can be both)

There was a hotfix for 10.1 (I believe it was 10.1) that came out about a week before the next month's update that supposedly fixed the GSOD problems (cleared mine right up, though mine only did it frequently when I overclocked the card, otherwise it just randomly crashed, really ruining my Fallout 3 game :( )
