HI,
I was wondering whether I should buy cat 5e or cat 6 cable for gaming. I have to buy a 10m cable for some reason.
It'd be helpful if I could get some suggestion regarding my query.
I have a 100Mb/s internet connection and both the cat 5e and cat 6 can be bought at the same cost.
.
Thanks.

Cat 6 has a plastic divider that runs the length of the cable to keep each twisted pair separate. That makes it considerably thicker and stiffer.

If that matters to you, at a 10 meter length there's going to be no functional difference between Cat 6 and 5e, so the Cat 5e should be fine. Otherwise, since they're the same price, go for the Cat 6.

If this is for a laptop and you plan on moving the cable often and even traveling with it then Cat5e would absolutely be the better option.

Cat6 is good for long distance local network speeds. As Solandri pointed out at 10m there is not any difference and in my opinion not any benefit to using Cat6.

^THIS.

OP, you are over thinking this. Don't spend more than usd$10. Buy a known brand if you can, i.e. Belkin, so you don't end up with a (cheap performance) chinese copper clad and that's it.
