Cat 6A cable (80m) tests good but not working

I installed a CAT 6A cable and attached keystones at both ends.
It tests fine with a cable tester, all lines working, pins are matching properly.
When I connect it to a switch (1GB ethernet, tested different ones) and a computer the computer shows no connection at all and sometimes a broken connections.
I did the same thing before with CAT 5e cable and everything worked well then.
I tested a fresh coil of 100m cable and it behaves exactly the same way.

- Is there anything more I could check or change?
- What is the best way to go with the shielding? Connect it both sides, one side only, or not at all?

Ethernet standard limitation is 100m. for some applications / devices, it can be less than that.
if you installed keystones that means you added more cable length at both ends which might be the reason it is failing. plus typically Cat5e reaches those 100m and shielded cables or Cat6 tend to not reach that distance very well.

Following the correct conventions I disagree, data transfer rates over CAT5e is 1 Gbps up to 100m, this isnt application or service dependent. It also doesn't depend on shielded cable The keystones will not have taken this from 80m to over 100m. His patch cables either end may have but that doesn't change what I'm saying. If correctly installed 1 Gbps should be achievable over the 80m.

Were they the same keystones that had the Cat5e attached to them?? These can splay open when re-used. You may still get continuity on the tester ( I presume you are using a simple cable tester not a proper tester such as a Fluke)? What is stamped on the cable please?

Thank you for all your answers:
- Yes I followed EIA 568B convention?
- I did not switch out the 5a cable - I just used Cat6A for the new installation instead of our usual 5e because the cable was a little longer than usual (we normally do not get beyond 60m here) and has to last longer than our usual more temporary connections.
- The second pair of keystones I used were new.
- The cable is labled: "Outdoor CAT 6 S/FTP) (PIMF) Shielded 4x2xAWG23/1 Solid 100OHM 250MHz EIA-TIA 568 ##904-33##
Does not say 6A - even though I bought it as a 6A - could that be the problem?
- Yes I am using a cheap cable tester that only does static measurement.
- The patch cables on both ends are 1.5m in sum.

The cable should be fine, 1Gbps up to 100m 10Gbps up to 50m. The tester will show crosses and continuity but no other factors. Apart from re-doing the keystones I'm at a bit of a loss.

I just did another test: 100MB connections do not work either ... :-(
And I did replace the keystones - no change there. I all does not make any sense to me ...
