I bought a cheapy cable tester that I used to trouble shoot a faulty cable. It worked great and cable was fixed. Next time I went to test another cable I got
.....Main : 1,2,3,4,5, _ ,7,8
Remote : 1,2,3,4,5,6*,7,8
*extra bright

This sequence shows up on any cable I test now, even ones I know are good... I figure not all my cables are bad on pin 6 so I'm thinking the tester is bad?
Appreciate any insight...

This is the tester...
iMBAPrice - RJ45 Network Cable... https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01M63EMBQ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Have you physically looked at the port(s) on the tester and remote to see if there are any of the metal fingers touching ?

Yes, should have said that was my first thought a bad pin on the tester so checked them but given that the main is the one that's dark and the remote lights twice as bright it has me stumped.
I thought maybe some kind of diagnostic code, ie failing battery so replaced the battery but all to no avail.

Which specific tester is it (link would be good) ?
