[SOLVED] Cat6 issue

I’m sure this is a repetitive, but I can’t seem to figure this out even after searching for awhile. I ran a 100 ft cat6 to my computer through the attic and it seems the speeds are capped at 90 download and 30 upload. I’ve tried other ports in the house and they all have speeds of 200-300 download and 20 upload. I believe the other cords in the house are cat5. I just had someone come out and test the speeds and he had said he got 200 download and 30 upload. He had used some network tester. He said there was no issue.

Any ideas on how to solve this issue?

I don’t have that exact wall plate. Mine only has the Ethernet connection on it. I tried to hook an RJ45 cat6 connector to the wire that comes out of my wall and the speeds were still slow. I feel like it’s not the connector that is coming out of the wall? Could I be wrong?
If your wall plate has screw terminals like the one you linked, then it is BAD. The problem could be at either end of the wire since you terminated it yourself.
You really need a basic cat5 tester like this -- https://www.amazon.com/Klein-VDV526-052-Scout-Junior-Tester/dp/B004CI9NRM

Did you terminate this cable yourself? Did you use keystone wall plates? Was this "cat6" cable 100% copper and 22-25 gauge?
Can you post a link to the cable you used?

Yes, I did terminate it myself. This is the wire I used https://www.lowes.com/pd/Southwire-...ernet-Riser-Blue-Data-Cable-Pull-Box/50101614
I am not sure if it’s 100% copper. It is 23 gauge.

I used this wall plate https://www.homedepot.com/p/Commercial-Electric-Network-and-Coax-Wall-Plate-217F-8C-WH/203715579
OK, your wall plate is definitely part of the problem. That does not meet spec. All those loose wires. BAD. What you want is https://www.lowes.com/pd/Legrand-Plastic-CAT6-Ethernet-Wall-Jack/50110944 And you want to keep the untwisted wire as short as possible. If you need coax also, they make combo units -- https://www.lowes.com/pd/Legrand-Plastic-CAT5e-Ethernet-Wall-Jack/50122191

Okay, I’ll take a look at it. I have some of those connectors. I had a person from my provider come out and take a look, but due to quarantine their policy is still lock down so they don’t come inside. He tested it and said my speeds were 100 more download than I was getting. This is all just confusing for me.

If your PC works on one cable, but not on another, then it is the cable.
