Hi all

Ok I'm having difficulty installing the new catalyst 10.2 drivers I've tried installing 10-2_vista64_win7_64_dd_ccc_wdm_enu.exe and after that failing tried just 10-2_vista64_win7_64_dd.exe to no avail?
My current drivers and stuff is what I got with my MSI 5850

Anybody got any tips?

Regards

What do you mean by "difficulty"? It's too generic. Is there an error message? Did your computer crash?

You must have uninstalled the older drivers first before installing the newer ones. So: Uninstall -> Reboot -> Install 10.2 -> done.

I just noticed you're trying to install the 64-bit version of the driver. Do you have 64-bit windows? If not, you're supposed to install the 32-bit version only.

ive'got a 64-bit W7 , I just used driversweeper to uninstall the old drivers but the same problem persists , catalyst install manager unpacks and gives you the option to install or uninstall , but it crashes as soon as I select any of the options.

Yup I updated everything this morning so that's not it.

"zipzoomflyhigh So install 10.1....."

It doesn't even work when I install the drivers that came with the card ? so 10.1 won't make a difference.

but thanx anyway for everybody trying to help so far
:D

Splendid
Delete the driver in safe mode then restart windows and install 10.2

You can also try this to uninstall your current ones -

1) Right click on the desktop, select Personalise

2) Click Display (bottom left)

3) Select Change Display Settings

4) Select Advanced Settings

5) It should default to the adaptor tab, if not select it.

6) Click Properties

7) Click the Driver tab

8) Choose uninstall driver.

I managed to get rid of catalyst using driversweeper ,
but the reason I don't think that will resolve my problem is because I couldn't even reinstall the original drivers that came with my GPU (catalyst 9.something) because the install manger crashes even before you get the opertunity to install anything. So I think that rules out the problem being on Catalyst's side. I also think that if I could get the 10.2 flie that I downloaded to atleast override my current drivers i'd be back in business (not that I would install the new driver over the old one) but @least I'd know that I can install drivers again.

so my problem is bigger than Catalyst . (apologys to ATI for the needless swearing and cursing that happened in my mind)

back to the problem ? what, where, how, why? all these and more :pt1cable:

oh well till I do get it sorted @least I could do a system restore

If any of you know of something lemme know

Cheers

I agree with trying a fresh install. You might try putting your desktop at a different resolution/color depth than whatever your currently using. When installing the ccc suite. If you get a full installation, reboot before trying to change resolution back. You might have some core windows vga drivers corrupted ?
